about andrew
Andrew grew up in the idyllic tropical region of North Queensland, Australia and was first introduced to cameras at an early age. He remembers his parents giving him a Konica for Christmas when he was around 9 years of age. Nowadays he favours the latest professional digital cameras from Nikon.Following the completion of a Commerce Degree at James Cook University and accountancy studies he became a successful stock broker. In 1983 he started his own company, FINPAC Financial Advisors which today has three directors and manages the retirement finances of many astute investors, including leading photographers.
Andrew has in the past been an active partner in a wedding/portrait photography business. Today, his wedding and portrait photography is restricted to staff, relatives and friends preferring to concentrate on sports photography. Over the past few years he has had the immense pleasure of photographing the weddings of his daughter Victoria and step-daughter Tracy.
In 1994 Andrew won a prestigious award for his photo Sunrise on Castle Hill. The Townsville City Council used this image to promote the region throughout the year & it appeared in many publications around Australia.
He presently lives in Townsville with his wife Tricia but spends a lot of time visiting other areas of the country and overseas mostly to photograph major motor races. He is lucky to be able to combine his passions for motor racing and photography. Fortunately Tricia also shares his intense passion for motor racing.
During the basketball season Andrew can be seen courtside shooting the Crocodiles as one of the NBL/WNBL accredited photographers.
He is also the official photographer for the Offshore Superboat Championship and shoots the races from the front seat position of the media chopper. His photos are displayed on the Association's website and in boating publications.
Andrew serves on the North Queensland committee of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and has been Treasurer for the past three years.
